Welcome Dr. Shiloh Small to Borealis LIFE

We are honored to welcome Dr. Shiloh Small, MD, FACOG to Borealis LIFE.

Dr. Small is a board-certified gynecologist who brings a healing-centered, trauma-informed approach to women’s health. Northern Cheyenne and raised on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, she integrates Indigenous ways of knowing with Western medicine to honor the whole person—body, mind, spirit, family, and community. Her care model reflects a deep understanding that health is relational and that safety, dignity, and empowerment are essential to healing.

Dr. Small completed her medical training at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has lived in Anchorage since 2012 and previously practiced at Southcentral Foundation and the Alaska Native Medical Center, where she provided comprehensive gynecologic care to Alaska Native and American Indian communities.

Her clinical interests include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, with a focus on improving recovery time, reducing pain, and restoring quality of life. Whether addressing complex pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, or surgical needs, Dr. Small emphasizes shared decision-making and individualized care. Patients can expect thoughtful conversations, clear options, and care that centers their values and lived experiences.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Small is a mother of three who enjoys traveling, gardening, camping and riding ATVs, hiking, yoga, meditation, and listening to audiobooks. These practices reflect her commitment to resilience, connection, and lifelong learning—qualities she brings into both her personal life and her work with patients.

At Borealis LIFE, we believe that women’s health care should feel safe, collaborative, and empowering. Dr. Small’s integrative perspective and commitment to healing-centered gynecology align beautifully with that vision. We are grateful to have her as part of our growing team and look forward to the care and leadership she brings to our community.
